. (4 months ago) Terrible! I am so disappointed that my son has to attend this school. I have been looking into private schools and charter schools just to ensure he will not have to attend again next year. This school has broken my sons spirit.

He entered Mac Williams an honor roll student and was a member of beta club. He enjoyed school and was very excited and the very first semester received Ds and Fs because the teachers tend to?misplace? Work that is later found GRADED they tend to choose their favorites from the start and focus only on them and also have no desire to help when your child?s grades fall. I?m VERY disappointed in this school. (5 months ago) would not recommend nor would I want our child to ever return.

(6 months ago) This school has been a terrible experience. I have seen it tear down many good kids and force them into dangerous peer groups in order to fit in. The inclusion classes for students with learning disabilities do not have strong teachers have poor discipline and lack structure. They push kids that once gave effort into not caring and giving up. They start hanging with gangs and buy drugs at school. This is also an issue that has been ignored often by teachers not wanting to get involved and few years ago the SRO even made excuses for one of the kids known to be dealing drugs at the school.

Teachers leave with the students won't meet with parents when it is convenient for parents and wait until a child is completely lost before even reaching out. I will say that I have hope for the years ahead as a new principal took over midway through this year. Maybe he will get it moving in a positive direction and will take control of the problems. I wish him well as he fights against well established festering problems.

(2 years ago) This school is awful. I moved from Maine to Fayetteville in the middle of the school year for 6th grade and there are too many problems to even begin to explain. First off they are so academically behind that I was being taught 2 digit multiplication when in Maine I was taking Pre Algebra. The students are mean unaccepting and extremely judgemental so much so no one would be friends with me and I was bullied.

    Thank

I know a girl who went to the bathroom and another girl jumped on her back and dug her fingernails into her face and scratched her face up so that she had to leave school! I'm also an accelerated student so when I moved here they placed me in their 'gifted' program but they gave us the same work as the normal class just had us separated from the average students. In Maine they grade on a 10 point scale and Mac Williams did an 8 point scale while I was there. I had all A's in Maine and one was a 91. Well Mac Williams wouldn't accept my A's translated my grades through THEIR SCALE and gave me B's.

Totally unfair! The difficulty of work in the two states is so different! Also after the EOG testing the teachers don't make any plans so I watched movies all day for about 2-3 weeks. My mom had me write down all the movies I saw and it ended up being about 26 hours of movies one being PG-13 and they showed it without permission. When the school year ended I was so happy I cried about having to go back there again and my mom decided to homeschool me and my sister.

I would not place Mac Williams as a good school on my list. (2 years ago) This is the absolute worst school my children ever attended. It was dismal. They both hated going to school everyday. Right down from the top the principal teachers and staff seemed to despise both students and parents alike.

I once complained to the principal because teachers weren't returning phone calls and email messages and one of them had the gall to call me on the phone and yell at me! I had a parent once comment to me that they should have a sign at the front door 'parents not welcome'. My kids continue to have bad memories of this school as do I.

(3 years ago) Frustrated and disappointed. Communication between the school and parents is poor. I have emailed the guidance department and did not received a response for almost a week (and a few times I never received a response). Teachers fail to respond in a timely manner to emails.

Teacher concerns are not taken seriously by administration. Discipline problems abound and are inconsistently handled. This school is poorly managed. (3 years ago) My daughter attended this school for half of 6th grade and all of 7th grade. The teachers were not attentive to my requests for enforced discipline in the classroom.

Too many children attending this school lack discipline lack attentive parental involvement and the academically driven students suffer for it. Sports are emphasized academics are a sideline and most children have outrageous behavior that overwhelms the teachers and administration. Children who are there to learn are unable to do so because of the constant distraction from undisciplined children. It is a shame because I feel this school has decent administration and teachers. I suggest Seventy-First or a school of choice offered by the county. (7 years ago) Mac Williams Middle School is the best Cumberland County School that you can send your child to. With great student-teacher relationships outstanding sports high academics and much more it is the best possible choice.

Personally I'm a student at Mac Williams; and I wouldn't trade it for any other in the county. It really is great living (and going to school) East side of the Cape Fear river!. (7 years ago) i love this school also love the teachers they are soooooo nice both of my brothers went to this school they loved it too. (8 years ago) I have a granddaughter enrolled at this school I love the way the school is setup for each grade level to have their sperate halls.I would like to know they had been rewarded with a 20 0000 check to help improve on the childrens education.

The staff do a great job and I think Mac williams is the best middle school in our city. (8 years ago) I was a student at Mac Williams starting in the 6th grade in 2005 to completing in the 8th grade in 2008 and I have to say that I truly believe that Mac Williams is an amazing school. I learned so much from the teachers and from the principals even. It was a great experience for me. I encourage for parents that are pending on sending their child/children to that school that they go and take a look at it go to an open house as it may not be for everybody.

Although I am sure you will love what you learn (. (9 years ago) N/A.

(9 years ago) N/A. (9 years ago) Hello my name is Cory M. And personally as a former Mac Williams Mustang I think the school is great.I spent my 7th grade year there and hoped to spend my 8th.When I found that I was not going to be able to I was crushed. That's just how great the school is and if your children have the opportunity to attend this magnificent school then you should really consider it R.I.P. Mr.Harrison. (10 years ago) N/A. (10 years ago) Keeping in mind there is no perfect school I think that MacWilliams is one of the very best!

The Accelerated Math program is great and has been helpful for my daughter. The teachers and staff seem to be caring and there is somewhat of a family atmostphere here.

There are plenty of good things to say about it including strong athletic programs and educational extracurricular activies. The principal holds high standards because she has such an excellent spirit.

(10 years ago) N/A. (10 years ago) OK how would you guys (who live in New York) know how MWMS is? I have gone there for my 6th 7th and 8th grade years. MWMS is a great school. Number 1 in many athletics great chorus group excellenct band and our teachers really care for the students. Back in new york would the entire school be in mourning over a safe cordinator? Probably not.

But everyone at MWMS knew him. He always played with the students. We all loved him. We are a family at MWMS.

I was sad to leave. But i will have great middle school memories. If your child goes to or is going to go to MWMS let them. They are very involved. We have great school spirit.

With pep rallys and dances and spirit day. (10 years ago) Ha. As a student from New York I find Mac Williams poorly organized and not intellectually stimulating.

It seems to be nothing but repetition; there is a lot of downtime and still the students do not do their homework. Half of my 'team' is failing our Social Studies class and it isn't due to the teacher. That teacher happens to be one of the best spoken engaging people there. It is due I believe to a lack of will. Their assignments are always simple and straightforward; they lack secondary language options and any really-worth-the-time extracurricular activities.

The best thing is the band which is entirely exceptional. Still it does not entirely compensate for the core classes.
